Mark Williams: NSSGA’s Environmental Leadership Award recipient

Mark Williams, environmental manager with Luck Companies, received the NSSGA’s 2019 Environmental Leadership Award. The award recognizes an individual who has made exemplary contributions to the industry’s environmental responsiveness, is involved with NSSGA’s environmental programs and has direct day-to-day involvement with his company’s environmental affairs.

The Environmental Leadership Award was presented during the 2019 Legislative and Policy Forum, on Nov. 18, in Washington, D.C.
Williams has chaired NSSGA’s Water Quality Task Force and is now the Environmental Committee Chair. He worked to present examples of how the Environmental Protection Agency’s 2015 Waters of the U.S. rule would negatively affect the aggregates industry to regulators and legislators and helped members understand numerous water and endangered species issues.

“We are so proud of Mark for earning the industry’s highest honor given to an individual who has demonstrated exceptional leadership and made noteworthy contributions in the field of environmental stewardship,” said Charlie Luck, president and CEO of Luck Companies. “Mark constantly challenges our associates to explore opportunities that will evolve our environmental work so that we can continue to make a positive impact on our communities and neighbors.”

Matt Hinck, former NSSGA Environmental Subcommittee chairman and 2014 Environmental Leadership Award recipient, said that Williams is a stellar example to the industry of an environmental professional. “I have worked with Mark for nearly 10 years on NSSGA committees, and I could not think of a better person to win this award. He is a deep thinker who really understands environmental issues and asks good questions.”
